Revathi (Malayalam:, born Asha Kelunni Kutty)[2] is an Indian film, actress and film director, known for her works predominantly in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films.[3] She was also starred in few Kannada and Bollywood films. She has also directed feature films, and has acted in and produced multiple television programs. She has won several accolades, including three National Film Awards in three different categories, and six Filmfare Awards South.[4] Revathy is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, having studied since the age of seven and performed her arangetram in Chennai in 1979. [5] Apart from films, she has been involved in a variety of social organizations, the most notable being the Banyan, Ability foundation, Tanker foundation and Vidyasagar, and has also served as a member of several film festivals including the Chennai International Film Festival and the International Film Festival of India.Revathi (Malayalam: രേവതി), born as Asha Kelunni on July 8, 1966 is an Indian actress and film director. She has acted in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi movies, totaling over twenty years of experience in the entertainment industry. She has to her credit five Best Actress Filmfare awards for her performance in the Tamil films Mann Vasanai, Thevar Magan, Anjali, the Telugu film Ankuram and the Malayalam film Kakothi Kaavil Appoopan Thadigal. Revathi was born as Asha Kelunni in Kochi, Kerala. Her father Kelunni was a Major in the Indian Army. She married Suresh Menon in 1988. They got separated in 2002. She was awarded the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Tamil film, Thevar Magan in 1992. In addition, she has also won the Tamil Nadu State Award for Thalaimurai in 1998. Mitr, My Friend (2002) was her first directorial venture. A rare Indian English film at the time, Mitr garnered an award for Best Director (English Film) in the National awards. Her next film as a director, Phir Milenge (2004), created waves as one of the first Hindi movies to deal with the sensitive subject of AIDS. Revathi has begun her film career in 1983 Tamil movie Mann Vasanai, directed by P. Bharathiraja and produced by Chithra Lakshman. The movie features: Pandiyan, Revathi, Ramanathan, and Vijayan. In the movie, Revathi played the role of Muthupechi, after released the movie, the movie was great success at the box office and for the movie, and she also won the Filmfare Special Award-South.

Revathi has also acted in 1988 Malayalam movie 'Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal', directed by Kamal and produced of this movie Ausepachan. Star-cast of the movie Revathi, Ambika and Krishnan Kutty Nair. In the movie, Revathi played the role of Lakshmi. After released the movie was also hit at the box office and for the movie, she also won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Her next movie 'Thevar Magan' directed by Bharathan and produced by Kamal Haasan. The movie star-cast: Kamal Haasan, Nassar, Revathi and Gouthami. In the movie, Revathi played the role of Panchavarnam, after released the movie, the movie was commercial success at the box office and for the movie, and she also won the National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actress and Filmfare Award for Best Actress.Revathi has worked with so many Hindi movies, such as: Mann Vasanai (1983), Kai Kodukkum Kai (1984), Kanni Rasi (1985), Aan Paavam (1985), Lakshmi Vanthachu (1986), Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal (1988), Prema (1989), Idu Saadhya (1989), Arangetra Velai (1990), Kizhakku Vaasal (1990), Anjali (1990), Ankuram (1992), Thevar Magan (1992), Gaayam (1993), Gandhi Pirantha Mann (1995), Subash (1996), Rathna (1998), Taj Mahal (1999), Gramaphone (2002), Darna Mana Hai (2003), Phir Milenge (2004), Nishabd (2007), Gaayam 2 (2010), Osthe (2011), Indian Rupee (2011), 2 States (2014)Over the course of her career, she has earned numerous awards both regionally and nationally, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil for three consecutive years (1992–1994) for Thevar Magan, Marupadiyum, and Priyanka respectively, the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam for Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal, the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Thevar Magan, as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu for Ankuram. Alongside many that include awards from the Film Fans Association, the Tamil Nadu State Government, Cinema Express, and other organizations.
